Lots of food and even more laughter

It's that time of the week again. It's Sunday evening and time to start getting ready for a brand new week. In my world, that mainly consists of watching some telly and having an early night (yes, I am hard core) which after yet another crazy weekend will probably involve and earlier night than usual.

As I mentioned in my last post, yesterday me and Chloe went out for a night of dancing in Wimbledon (you can guess where exactly we went). We both had the best night! As the night out was really impromptu, there was absolutely no pressure so we drank and danced the night away, laughing more than I thought was possible.
This morning, we woke up a little worse for wear (the limited amount of sleep probably didn't help). After a morning of feeling sorry for ourselves and drinking a lot of water, me, Chloe and Richard (who crashed at the flat) went out to The Rocket in Putney for a huge fry-up and plenty of caffeine. Without any exaggeration, we spent the entire morning and afternoon, laughing endlessly (me and Chloe may have lost a couple of IQ points the night before) at anything and everything. With our bellies filled with food, Chloe headed back home, Richard headed off to visit other friends and I ventured up to visit my mum and brother. I spent the afternoon catching up with the family, watching some tennis, some football and eating even more food that my mum lovingly cooked.

And now I am safely back at my lovely flat, watching some classic The Big Bang Theory. It's been impossible to ignore the storm that has been predicted and I am a little weary of what Monday will bring so I hope everyone living in the south of England stays safe and warm.
Have a great week, everyone!

Dance a little, walk a lot

So the weekend has already had a successful start and it's still only Saturday night!

After a busy yet super slow week, I went to an unplanned, rather last minute gig at Hammersmith Apollo to see the Goo Goo Dolls. I have to be honest, I only know two of their songs and whilst always thought they were a pretty cool, I never actually listened to a whole album of theirs. Anyway, it turns out The Goo Goo Dolls are awesome! Considering their music career has spanned over a couple of decades, they played a really good mix of their old stuff and songs off their most recent album. The atmosphere was great and we were really close to the front, without getting squashed. I had an amazing night and will definitely be putting more Goo Goo Dolls songs on my i-pod!
This morning I had a bit of a (much needed) lie-in and woke to breakfast already being on my plate (yum). Now before I go any further, I have a confession to make (which I am not sure I should admit to since according to my page views, people from all over the world read this blog): I can't ride a bike. Yes, it's a little weird but it seems to bother everyone else so much more than me. Anyway, Natz has made it her mission to teach me to ride a bike and chose today as the day to start this mission. I will not go into too much detail and say it was not successful. At all. And I'm pretty sure I embarrassed myself in front of everyone at Wimbledon Park.
In Roo's world, riding a bike does not
look this serene or elegant!
After that less-than-fun experience, me and Richard ventured up to Richmond Park. We decided to be active and walk all the way which involved walking up to Wimbledon Common, across a gorgeous, long forest and up to Richmond Park. It was a windy day but aside from that, the weather was lovely and the endless walk really made me appreciate this gorgeous city in the autumn. We even managed to see some deer at the park which seemed a bit of a surreal experience considering we were in a park. In London (admittedly though there were times when I completely forgot I was in London). A cappuccino kept us nice and warm in the park and after yet more walking we decided to get the bus to Putney for some dinner at Wagamama (which is always good).
And now, I am back in our cosy little flat, with the telly on in the background, trying to make myself leave this very comfy sofa and get myself ready for an impromptu night out in Wimbledon with Chloe.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday night!

Here, there, everywhere

This has been a bit of hectic weekend, which after my very lazy weekend last week was exactly what I needed!

Following a busy (and not-so-great) week at work, me and Natz headed out to Wimbledon on Friday night to relax over a couple of drinks and some dancing. In spite of our best intentions to try some place new, we headed to the fail-safe Slug, followed by Watershed.

After far too little sleep, I spent Saturday morning in my PJs until Richard got down from Brighton and we went up to central London, where Richard had his first trip to m&m World! The rest of the day was spent walking endlessly around London, down to St Paul’s and along the river (I’m a pretty awesome tour guide, even if I do say so myself, with the amazing ability to mix fact with fiction and make it sound believable). Later in the evening, I had a quick change of clothes and headed to Vauxhall to my friend Rosie’s for dinner, wine and a girly catch up. We headed out to Covent Garden Cocktail Club for a couple of Bellini’s (yum) and later headed out to Verve for a little bit of dancing. Since we were able to get free entry by getting stamps from a pub across the road (as did many others), the place was crazy-packed and the music was remixed slightly too much but all in all, I had a fabulous night!
Following another limited night of sleep, I got myself ready to head off to Reading this morning for my cousin’s daughter’s christening. Most of the day was spent driving to and from Reading but the day turned out to be relatively successful: I got to catch up with family who I haven’t seen in forever, had some delicious cakes and ended up home at a reasonable hour, leaving me with just enough time to have somewhat of a lazy, relaxing evening which was spent watching rubbish tv.
And now it’s definitely time for bed, and hopefully a decent night’s sleep to get me ready for the week ahead.

I hope everyone has a great week!

I'm back

Hi all! So as some of you may have noticed, I've been missing from the blogging world for a while. After my return from Lithuania (one of my less successful trips), life went a bit mental.

In summary, as the sun came out, my summer consisted of the following: a lot of days in the park, (trying and failing to get a tan), catching up with old friends, making new friends, drinking a lot of iced coffee (Starbucks, of course), gaining two new housemates (Steph and Dan), another trip to a football stadium, a mini-camping trip in Brighton, an air show, a continued attempt to read Hemingway (my friends Richard and Chloe will appreciate the importance of this; it has proved to be quite the challenge) and a lot of stuff in the middle!
And now, with the new season fully established (my shorts have been hidden away and my trench coat has become a permanent wardrobe staple), life has calmed down (a little) and I realised that I quite miss making a (very public) record of life's happenings in the form of this blog.

So... I am officially back and ready to type away... Just not quite yet, it being Thursday and me being in my PJs, there is not much to brag about so I'm going to head off to bed and offer a proper update later in the week.
Night everyone!
