My weekend started off great this week but then had a few ups and downs along the way. Here's the update.
On Friday I met up with Edita for a little catch up. Both me and her had a long, tough week at work so some chatter over some food and drink seemed like the ideal way to end the working week. I met up with her at Green Park, close to her work place and we headed to the Shepherd Market. I had never heard of it before and would never have guessed that such a place even existed right by Green Park! It was basically a little square of shops, cafes and restaurants. Unfortunately, neither of us got to see much since it was pouring with rain. After quickly walking around the place, we settled on a little Indian restaurant; Mayfair Tandoori and when I write 'little' I mean that with no exaggeration - the place was absolutely tiny with only five or so tables. In spite of my intention to order something 'healthy(ish)' that didn't quite plan out. I chickened out and played it safe with Chicken Korma. The meal ended up being quite yummy.
After our big dinner, we decided to walk off the food and went in search of a bar. In the end we ended up in (surprise surprise) Soho. We settled on Med Kitchen - a place that primarily served food, but had a few cocktails and a bar. I had my first ever Margarita (which was interesting) and Edita settled on a beer. Overall I had a very nice evening - a perfect way to unwind and start the weekend.
I slept in on Saturday morning (at least I considered it a sleep in) which messed up my day a little. I had intended to have a productive Saturday in Starbucks, sorting some stuff out on my computer but that didn't quite work out since I ended up feeling really ill all day long and spent most of it watching tv. Because of this, I tried to make the most of my Sunday.
I woke up to the most beautiful weather ever! When I left the house, the sun was shining and the air was crisp. As some of you may already know; I am a summer girl! I love the sunshine and hot weather but being back in London, I have certainly developed a new appreciation for this beautiful autumn season that we are having. The city looks gorgeous and the sunshine makes me happy: win-win. I figured there was no better way to enjoy the Sunday than spend it shopping in Oxford Street.
Unfortunately, my shopping trip didn't develop into quite the spree, I had hoped. Lately, I have been having trouble finding things that I like in shops - things either don't fit right or look just plain 'blah'. I ended buying some presents for some of my friends' upcoming birthdays and ended buying only a top for myself. But this was the first time in a long time that I actually just walked around shops and looked at clothes without rushing about which was so nice.
Some shops have already started preparing for Christmas, selling prezzies and Christmassy wrapping paper which I don't really like. I am one of those people who don't appreciate all that early-Christmas fussing. I love Christmas but I feel like all the early commercial stuff means that it doesn't feel like Christmas once it approaches, thus ruining the Christmas spirit before it's even started. Anyway, one of the places that hasn't yet prepared for Christmas was Selfridges. I love to have a look at their window displays and thankfully it wasn't yet ready for Christmas. Instead, they had some weird polka-dot theme going on which I didn't quite understand. But at least it was attention grabbing - there were quite a few confused-looking expressions, looking in.
Anyway, I ended up cutting my shopping trip short since I started to feel not so great again. I just hope whatever it is that's been making me feel crappy, goes away soon. So, here's hoping that everyone has a great week!
Muah,
Roo xx
